I was born and raised in Essex and have lived here all my life. I have a keen interest in British wildlife and love being out in the Essex countryside. My hobbies include photography, cycling (off road mostly) and visiting some of the many rural pubs located around the county.

These activities and hobbies have been the inspiration for 'Beast' a relatively short (49,000 words) modern mystery thriller based upon real life experiences, eyewitness accounts and written statements that have been accumulated during the period from 1989 to 2010. The other information required to complete this book has been researched from local and national newspaper articles and web based forums.

The story commences with the activities of an animal research center located in Essex back in the mid to late eighties. The background information researched as mentioned above. The focus then switches to a bunch of beer loving friends who try to incorporate their passion for their chosen sport (cycling - off road mostly) into their weekly work routine. This brings them into conflict with an unknown danger that has been hiding and evolving in the Essex countryside for the last two decades. It's not all serious though, there's an element of humour to lighten the mood where applicable. 

Names and locations have been changed where appropriate (for legal reasons in some cases). Which information remains fact and which is fiction - I'll leave you to find out.
